GRAND UNION CANAL

Today's weather: Mainly rain with a little sunshine.

A few photographs this week from a weekend narrow boating on the Grand Union Canal.

 

Braunston bottom lock

Entrance to Braunston tunnel

Entrance to the Braunston tunnel, at over 2000 yards it is one of the longest on the UK canal system.


Emerging fron the tunnel

Finally emerging into the light after nearly 20 minutes in near total darkness.


Watford locks

Looking down the Watford locks, there are 7 locks in total 4 of which form a staircase in the centre of the flight.

Phew, the hard works nearly over, our boat in the Watford bottom lock, the last of the 7 locks that makes up the Watford flight.

Looking down in to one of the locks, this one is certainly very deep.
