GRUNDISBURGH
Today's weather: A lovely sunny late autumn day.
Grundisburgh is a beautiful country village, yet situated only 6 miles from the county town Ipswich, it has everything you would expect of an old country village, a village green with a river running through it spanned by two fords , a lovely church, village pub and an old school to name but a few. |

A view looking across the village green towards the church, in the foreground is one of the two Fords, which cut through the green. I have even managed to get into this photograph! |

The old school and school houses. |

The church of St Mary's dates from around the 13th century, but the unusual brick tower was erected in the 18th century, it houses a peal of 12 bells one of only two 12 bell peal churches in Suffolk, the oldest bell was cast in 1628, the tower also has a sundial which is calibrated to show the time simultaneously in Grundisburgh, New York and Moscow. |

The river, which runs through the village green, is a tributary of the river Lark. |

At the other end of the village green another Ford crosses the river. |

This lovely thatched cottage is aptly called "Thatched cottage" |

The "Dog Inn" and the village store |

At this point on the village green you can see the Grundisburgh village sign the church, war memorial and even one of the locals. |

Some bodies in trouble, because when I walked past the gate it was OPEN! |
