HOLTON
Today's weather: A lovely warm spring day but a little overcast at times.
The village of Holton or to use it's correct name Holton St Peter stands about a mile from the nearby town of Halesworth. To the north of the village stands a former World War II airfield, very little of which remains today it was used during the war by the American forces as both a fighter and bomber base. |

The church of St Peter with it's Saxon round tower one of the tallest in Suffolk. |

Quaint cottages sit astride the main road which runs through the village. |

Holton's Post Mill can be seen between these two cottages. |

Cottages in Mill Road. |

The mill stands on a wooded hill overlooking the village and is accessed by this lovely stepped path. |

View from the footpath to the mill overlooking the village. |

The present mill parts of which date from the 18th century ceased working around the early 1900s but a mill have be recorded on this site since medieval times. |

This fantail is the mechanism by which the mill is able to turn around its centre post so always facing the prevailing wind. |

The oddly coloured Mill house with its lovely decorative plasterwork. |
