HORHAM
Today's weather: Warm and sunny saturday and a bit cooler sunday.
A busy time at Horham this weekend with a Jubilee vintage vehicle rally on Saturday and a open day at Horham Airfield the former home of the American 95th bombardment group which flew B17s Flying Fortresses during WW11, the 95th BG flew 321 missions and hold the distinction of being the 1st B17s over Berlin. It was also a B17 from Horham that became the last aircraft to be shot down in the European Theatre of Operations. |

Along with all the vintage vehicles a car boot sale was taking place, in the background is St Mary's church. |

A row of not quite so vintage cars. |

A ploughing competition in progress. |

This 1930 Sentinel steam lorry was trundling along the road to the rally. |

This memorial to the 95th Bombardment Group stands in the centre of Horham opposite the church. |

The 95th BG Hospital is now being restored and turned into a museum as a tribute to the men and woman who served there and gave their lives in the cause of freedom. |

Jeeps like this one would have been a very common sight around this area during the war. |

The 'Red Feather' club was the club for non commissioned officers. Much of the building is in need of major restoration but hopefully over time it can restored to it's former glory. |

Common features of these clubs were the magnificent wall paintings, very few of which still survive today. |

But the 'Red Feather' club has two of the few surviving walls. |

A 1939 General Post Office van. |

Got any Gum chum? Children were always trying to get gum and candy from the Americans. |
