A WALK ALONG KESSINGLAND BEACH
Today's weather: A very dull and damp day, but not to cold.
Kessingland is a village of around 4000 inhabitants that lies about 4 miles south of Lowestoft, it once consisted of two parts the "Beach" and the "Street" until a housing estate filled the gap thus uniting the village into one. |

I wonder if this is the smallest and oldest cottage in the village.

The "Sailors Home" public house. |

Nowadays only a few fishermen still fish from the beach. |

Caravans from the nearby holiday village perched on the cliff top, at this time of year all are empty awaiting next summers holidaymakers. |

At this point the River Hundred reaches the sea, but it has to be pumped over the shingle bank before it can reach the sea, I assume this is to do with the flood defences. |

The sluice, which allows the river to flow into the sea |

And finally the river reaches the sea via probably the only waterfall in Suffolk. |

This washed up tree still has its roots, so probably came from a little further down the coast where the coastal erosion is very bad, with not only trees but also whole houses falling over the cliffs. |

This pathway across the shingle, made from old conveyor belts sure makes walking back to the promanade much easier. |

And finally back to the village where its time to find somewhere to get a nice hot drink or even visit the Sailors Home! |
