NEW YEAR 2003
LYME REGIS, DORSET
Images this week from a New Year holiday spent at Lyme Regis in Dorset. |

Lyme Regis. |

Saturday 28th Dec and a lot of people walking on the promenade, no doubt trying to work off the excesses of Christmas. |

A Christmas adorns the beach at the historical Cobb Harbour. |

With setting sun and darkening clouds these people silhouetted are walking on the historic Cobb breakwater. |

After a few days of rain and bad weather, we awoke one day to this marvellous sunrise. |

The sun rising over Lyme Regis. |

This curved breakwater at Lyme Regis is known as the Cobb and was used as a set in the 1981 film "The French Lieutenant's Women" starring Meryl Streep. |

With no barriers and breaking waves like this it can be very hazardous on the Cobb. |

The main street in Lyme Regis. |

This cannon overlooking the coast was once used as a mooring post in the harbour until retrieved and mounted in its present position. |

The Town Mill parts of which date back to 1340 is so called because the town owned the mill. It has now been restored to a fully working water mill with regular milling demonstrations. |

The river Lym runs through the town and the riverside walk follows the river down to the sea . |

A lovely old thatched cottage situated on the promenade. |

Another day draws to a close as the sun sets on Lyme Regis. |
