OULTON BROAD Nr LOWESTOFT
Oulton Broad is classed as the most southerly of the
Norfolk Broads, even though it is in Suffolk.
It lies a short distance inland from Lowestoft, and
is connected to the sea by Lake Lothing

Looking towards the entrance to Oulton Board at Oulton dyke,
in the summer it will be thronged
with pleasure craft and holiday cruisers.

This was the old maltings, which have now been turned into luxury flats.

Another photograph of the old maltings.

Pleasure craft and tourist boats waiting for the summer season to start.

The wherry hotel , which was named after the craft which used to ply their trade on the broads.

These lock gates separate the broads from the sea, this is one of only two
places on the whole
of the broads where the broads meets the sea.

Another view of the lock gate, also the predestrian bridge.

Lake Lothing from the lock gates, looking towards the sea.
The
bridge in the background is the railway line between Lowestoft and Ipswich.
