The road leading down to the foreshore from Chelmondiston, with views
across the
River Orwell.

View along the foreshore with it's boatyard and old cottages.

The Butt & Oyster is a 17th century public
house with strong smuggling connections and
was used in a number of Arthur Ransome's books.

What better place to sit and enjoy lunch on a hot summer's afternoon.

Looking back towards the village from the river.

Masts and spars from an old ship or barge. |

|
Old barges, their useful working lifes over they are just left to rot away, some however are converted into houseboats and lived on behind the Butt and Oyster pub. |

Plenty of yachts on the river today.

A view from the common, locals are allowed to store small boats on the common.
