THEBERTON

Today's weather: A lovely bright sunny day but quite cold.

Theberton is a small village located on the road from Yoxford and Leiston and it was here on the night of 17th June 1917 that a German Zeppelin airship L48 which had be raiding the area was shot down with the loss of 16 members of it's crew.
The village is twinned with Thebarton in South Australia.

Theberton church tower

The round tower of St Peter's church.

Remains of Zeppelin L48

Inside the porch of the church are some remains of the framework from the German Zeppelin L48 that was shot down in 1917.

St Michael's churchyard

Bee hives in the rather overgrow and unkempt cemetery.

View from the church

View from the churchyard.

Remains of Theberton Mill

Very little now remains of Theberton's mill.

  Old Village Forge

The Old Forge circa 1664 and presently for sale, I wonder how many people have lived and worked here in its 300-year history.

View of church

Another view of the church and cemetery.

Plaque to the Zeppelins 16 crewmen

The 16 crewmen killed when the German Zeppelin crashed in 1917 were originally buried here in the churches graveyard but they were later reburied in the German military cemetery at Cannock Chase in Staffordshire.

Houses in Theberton

Houses in the village.

Teapot Hall

I think Teapot Hall is probably the smallest cottage in the village.
