WOODBRIDGE

Today's weather: A very cold, but sunny day.

I'm off to Cornwall for the Christmas hols, so I've posted some photographs taken a couple of weeks ago at the lovely town of Woodbridge, situated on the River Deben a few miles north of Ipswich.

My apologies to every one who has left messages in my guest book or sent e-mails recently, but due to the large number since last weeks link on Tony's Lakeland cam I have been unable to keep up with replying to everyone, so I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who have left messages in support of Suffolk CAM and I hope you will return again in the future.

WOODBRIDGE RAILWAY BRIDGE

The East Suffolk railway line runs very close to the river and although the station has been modernised the old iron bridge is still in use.

VIEW OF THE RIVER DEBEN AT LOW TIDE

At low tide the River Deben becomes one vast expanse of mud.

WOODBRIDGE TIDE MILL

The present Tide Mill was built in the 18th century and only stopped working in the late 1950s, but history records a mill on this site since the 12th century, after being left in decay for many years the Mill was finally fully restored in 1982.

SAILING BARGE

Boats and barges of all shapes and sizes are moored on the river, some are used solely for pleasure or work and some are used as homes, what a great place to live!

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE TIDE MILL

Another view of the Tide Mill with what looks like an Old Dutch barge in the front.

STERN ON GOOD INTENT

The lovely shape and decorations on the stern of Good Intent was what caught my eye here.

TIDE MILL AND GRANARY

This view shows the Granary, which stands along side the Tide Mill, and the myriad of small craft awaiting the next high tide.

BANDSTAND AND MODEL YACHT POND

The modern looking Bandstand with the model yacht pond in the background.
