31st MAY 2003

WOOLPIT STEAM 2003

Today's weather: A very hot and sunny day.

Crowds at the show

Even though it was still early and the show had only just opened the crowds were beginning to gather.

Vintage tractor

This 1960 Fordson Major tractor looks as good today as it did when it left the showroom over 40 years ago.

Working Machinery

All sorts of weird wonderful machinery were on display; this one is a Bamford Root Cutter.

Steam engines lined up

Traction engines being polished and made ready for their parade in the ring.

Old Nick and Little ol Nick

"Little Ol' Nick" in the front is a perfect half scale replica of "Old Nick" which stands behind, a 1908 Marshall Agricultural Steam Traction Engine.

Military Jeep

Also on display at the show was a collection of military vehicles including this WW11 American Jeep.

View of the showground

A view of the showground.

Old amusement arcade

An old time slot machine arcade. I can remember playing on these types of machines as a boy many years ago.

Steam Roller

Now making its way to the parade ring is a 1923 Aveling and Porter 8-ton Steam Roller.

Engines in the ring

After a parade in the ring all the engines were lined up and the public allowed in to photograph them.

Little Nick leaving the ring

"Little Ol' Nick" following its bigger brother out of the parade ring.

ATC band

A display by the 496(Lowestoft) Air Training Corp band. It must have been hell having to wear uniforms in this weather!
